Jon A. Gallinetti
Jon A. Gallinetti proudly represents a legacy of service spanning multiple generations. His family's journey began with his ancestor, Henry Diel, who emigrated from Straub, Russia, in 1890 and later served as a first lieutenant in World War I. This tradition of dedication to the country continued with Gallinetti's father, who served with distinction in World War II, serving in North Africa, Anzio, Monte Cassino, and Rome.
Major General Jon A. Gallinetti’s distinguished career in the U.S. Marine Corps began with his commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in 1972 after graduating from California State University, Fresno. Serving across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wings, he held command roles from Squadron to Marine Corps Air Bases. Gallinetti’s assignments included leading aviation units, developing tactics, and overseeing critical projects, such as testing the F/A-18 Hornet at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake. He commanded at MCAS Miramar and deployed to Iraq as Chief of Staff for Multi-National Force-Iraq.
Gallinetti’s strategic roles extended to NATO’s Partnership for Peace and military-to-military programs with former Soviet states. His final post was Deputy Commander of Marine Forces Command. With over 5,000 flight hours and numerous awards, including the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and Bronze Star, Gallinetti’s career exemplified dedication and leadership across global operations.
