Donald G. Klein

Service Branch: United States Air Force Rank: Lieutenant Colonel Service Period: 1954 – 1976 Donald G. Klein dedicated over two decades to the United States Air Force, beginning his career as a commissioned officer after graduating from the ROTC program at Fresno State College in 1954. Starting as a 2nd Lieutenant, Mr. Klein underwent extensive training, completing flight, navigation, and radar controller school, building a versatile skill set that contributed to his impactful career. During his service, Mr. Klein was stationed in Japan, where he bore witness to the aftermath of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki—a profound and historical observation that shaped his understanding of wartime impacts. He also served in Alaska, supporting defense operations in the region. Military service was a proud family tradition for Mr. Klein. Four of his uncles served in World War II, and his uncle Henry Roth was a valued member of the Biola Congregational Church, symbolizing the family’s strong commitment to faith and service.
